A MAN who threw a broken bottle at a friend who had given court evidence that put him behind bars has been jailed again.
Karl Wells was out drinking with friends in Fareham town centre in July 2006 when he got into an argument with Liam Smith.
Portsmouth Crown Court heard how Wells, 23, shouted "you've stitched me up" and other abuse at Mr Smith, whose testimony against him had led to Wells previously spending time in jail.
Wells, of no fixed address, threw a bottle of Stella towards his victim and it smashed on the ground outside Ferneham Hall.
He then grabbed another bottle and broke it in half on a concrete post, before hurling it at Mr Smith, leaving a deep 3cm gash on his left thigh that later required eight stitches.
Judge Richard Price jailed Wells, who has a string of previous convictions for offences including arson, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft and criminal damage, for 15 months after he admitted affray.
The judge also sentenced him to a further 15 months concurrently for a burglary in Brentford late in 2006, in which Wells stole more than £10,000 of property.
