A LEADING Hampshire care charity does not have far to turn for words of wisdom.
For Brendoncare has appointed the Bishop of Winchester the Right Reverend Michael Scott- Joynt as a Visitor.
Brendoncare's chief executive Ron Staker said: "The title of Visitor is an honorary role to provide trustees of a charity with independent wise counsel on such matters as ethics and pastoral care.
"We are indebted to the bishop for his support of our charity and are delighted that he has agreed to join us."
The bishop said: "I have known of Brendoncare for many years and have the highest regard for their work with older people.
"I was very pleased to be invited to join Brendoncare as their Visitor, and am proud to take on this role."
The bishop attended Brendoncare's annual event late last year and spoke to the gathering about why older people are still important in the 21st century.
Now in its 24th year, Brendoncare operates nine care centres and nursing homes, and runs more than 60 friendship clubs across Hampshire and Dorset.
