A DRIVER is believed to have lost part of his leg following a road accident in the New Forest this afternoon.
The drama happened shortly before 1pm on the west bound section of the A31 Cadnam and Ringwood road at Bartley Arch when his car struck the central reservation.
He got out of the vehicle and was struck by a car behind.
The victim was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for emergency treatment for his leg injury.
Lyndhust and Burley firefighters cut free the woman driver of the other vehicle.
The special equipment unit from the St Marys station in Southampton also attended the scene.
Traffic jams stretched for about seven miles as the road was closed for sometime. One lane has since reopened.
