AN investigation has been launched following the death of a prisoner found hanging in his cell today.
Terence Patrick Coughlan, 60, was discovered by staff at Parkhurst Prison, on the Isle of Wight, at about midday.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate Coughlan - who was on remand for harassment and the breach of an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) - but he was pronounced dead shortly after midday.
The prisoner was not on suicide watch.
An investigation into the incident will be held by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.
