It was like a scene straight out of a romantic movie.
A dashing serviceman in full uniform bends down on one knee to propose to his beautiful blonde girlfriend in front of hundreds of onlookers.
But this was not part of the latest Hollywood weepy.
It was how aircraftsman Martin Jordan popped the question to his Hampshire girlfriend.
The touching episode unfolded at a RAF graduation ceremony where schoolteacher Kari-Anne Crawford was swept off her feet by Martin.
As 500 people gathered to watch the new recruits' passing out parade, he was summoned to the front to make his heartfelt proposal.
Calmore Junior School teacher Kari-Anne was taken completely by surprise but didn't hesitate to say yes and kissed him happily as crowds melted into a chorus of "Ahhhhh".
Kari-Anne, who has a three-year-old son, Joe, said: "When they called him up I thought it was a bit strange. He looked at me and I thought Oh my God, he's going to do it'. I was going bright red thinking What is he doing?' "As soon as he went down on one knee everyone sighed and it hit me.
"He said Kari-Anne, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?'"
The 28-year-old Welshman had been plotting the perfect proposal for months and had even brought his girlfriend's family in on his secret plans before popping the question at RAF Halton, Aylesbury.
He said: I was very nervous. But I was sure Kari-Anne would say yes as we had discussed our future together."
The whirlwind romance began only six months ago after the couple started exchanging emails on an Internet dating site.
Kari-Anne, 27, of Seward Green, Hythe, said: "I became addicted to chatting to him online and I would check my messages before work, at lunch and when I got home. I couldn't stop.
"Our first date was at Margarita's in Town Quay, Southampton. When we met I thought he was very good looking and from that moment onwards we were totally head over heels in love."
The couple are planning a July wedding either this year or in 2009 and a honeymoon in Cyprus after LAC Jordan qualifies as a communications operator.
