THE Daily Echo has been recognised for its support of a Hampshire cancer charity.
Staff from Wessex Cancer Trust visited the Daily Echo offices in Redbridge, Southampton, to present the newspaper with awards for years of continued support in the media.
The charity's new chief executive, Sally Hall, and PR and media manager Tina Hawke presented the Star Awards to Stuart Dunn, managing director of Newsquest Hampshire, Daily Echo editor-in-chief Ian Murray and writer Kate Thompson for their commitment to the trust.
"The trust was very proud to have been chosen as the newspaper's media partner for our 25th anniversary in 2006, and the coverage we received from them was invaluable," said Tina.
"So much is being achieved and from projects we have funded, such as Fingerprinting Cancer and the Salisbury psychological support programme, we are not only helping people with cancer in the Wessex region, but also nationally and even globally. These awards are just a small part of our thank you and recognition for their continued support."
