ANOTHER school playing field in Southampton is to be sold off.
The city council has agreed to sell a two-acre plot at Bitterne Park School.
The land, comprising tennis courts and a grass field, will be transformed into a five-a-side football centre for use by schools and the community.
No objections were made to the proposal during a consultation in October.
However John Avery, from the City of Southampton Society, told councillors who made the decision that he was worried about evening noise and the possibility of the centre having a bar.
Labour leader Cllr June Bridle said that there were planning and licensing issues to be decided later.
The council will lease the land for up to 35 years to an unnamed bidder. The centre operator will pay building costs.
