A DRIVER has died after being airlifted to Southampton General Hospital following a two-car crash.
The accident happened on the A30 near Pitton in Wiltshire on Thursday.
A BMW and a Mercedes travelling in opposite directions were involved in a collision near the junction with Whiteway.
A Wiltshire police spokesperson said: "The driver of the BMW sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital where he sadly died.
"There were two other people in the vehicle at the time, but they were not injured. The driver of the Mercedes was also not injured.
"Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
"We believe a number of drivers may have witnessed the collision who have not yet spoken to police. We would like to speak to these people and also ascertain if they have dash cam footage which could help.
"Any witnesses to the collision should call 101 and quote log number 113 of September 15."
