DAY centres where families can take their children for health check ups while looking for jobs are being rolled out across Hampshire.
A total of 16 children's centres are to be constructed by September as part of the government's Every Child Matters programme.
Each community building will form a kind of walk-in centre for youngsters up to five years old with a function room for hire and a room for counselling services.
Construction company Britspace secured the £5m contract and will be erecting the ready-made buildings in nine months.
The children's centres will open on site at Pennington, Moreland, Lee-on-the-Solent, Manor Infant, Wickham, BelleVue, Chineham Park, Elson, Burlesdon, Readon Close, Waterside, St Vincent's, Fordingbridge, Wyvern, Neville Lovett & Chiltern schools.
