COMMUTERS are facing long rush hour delays this afternoon in Eastleigh following a three-vehicle smash.

Southampton Road has been closed at the approach to the Swan Centre roundabout where the crash happened shortly after 3.30pm.

Firefighters had to cut the roofs off two of the cars to free two people who were trapped inside. They were treated for back and neck injuries.

Four fire engines and 19 firefighters, from Eastleigh and Southampton's St Mary's, attended the scene. The special equipment unit from St Mary's was used to cut the roofs off the cars.

Two ambulances also attended the scene and paramedics treated the two injured at the scene.
