BOXING legend Barry McGuigan will open the new Golden Ring Boxing Club gym in Southampton on Monday.
The former world featherweight champion, pictured, will be offering inspiration and encouragement to the latest crop of fighters at the club's new home at Mansel Park Pavilion.
The club is relocating to the new £1m pavilion from its previous venue in Freemantle.
It will use modern sports facilities to encourage young people to channel their energy rather than getting caught up in anti-social behaviour.
To mark the occasion there will be boxing demonstrations, coaching and sparring with Golden Ring's fighters - including local hero Stuart Gill.
The Mansel Park Pavilion, in Evenlode Road, opened in October . It was the final project of the Outer Shirley Regeneration Programme, and was funded by SEEDA and Sport England with support from Southampton City Council.
The boxing gym opening event will take place from 4pm to 6pm.
