AN elderly woman is in hospital today after she was rescued from her burning flat by firefighters.
Two fire crews from New Milton and one from Lymington fought the blaze at Waverley House in Waverley Road, New Milton, between 4am and 5.10am.
The woman was treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Southampton General Hospital.
It is thought the fire started in the woman's bathroom.
About 30 residents of the warden-assisted home were also led to safety by firefighters.
