A FAREHAM man has been arrested after a woman was sexually assaulted in a park.
Police have confirmed that a 57-year-old man from Fareham has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation.
It comes after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted as she walked through Victoria Park, Portsmouth.
The 20-year-old was going through the park at around 1.40pm on Friday, September 16, when someone came up behind her and grabbed her.
They pulled her by her clothing and then indecently assaulted her.
The victim was able to run away.
The woman did not see the person but believes they were a man and says they smelt strongly of body odour.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the park or nearby at around the time specified above or anyone who witnessed the incident.
