Passengers had to abandon an airliner heading for Britain today when one of its wheels got stuck in mud.
The Ryanair Boeing 737 had been preparing to take off from Lodz in Poland for East Midlands airport with 170 on board when it left the runway while trying to turn around.
An airport spokesman said wind conditions forced planes to use the full length of the runway today.
Officials closed the airport for the plane to be pulled back onto the runway.
The passengers were taken by bus 80 miles east to Warsaw for another flight.
