HAMPSHIRE residents are needed to join the Hampshire Police Authority following a change in membership rules this year.
From October 1, magistrate members will no longer exist and three independent members are required to take on their roles. The authority holds police to account and ensures Hampshire and Isle of Wight residents get a good service.
New members will have the opportunity to serve up to four years, working alongside the existing five independent and nine councillor members.
Members are expected to give about two days each week to police authority business, during which time they will attend committee meetings, represent the authority on various bodies such as Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, engage with the local community and develop relationships with key members of the constabulary.
