FEARS of a major accident at Fawley oil refinery have been revealed by worried workers in a shock report leaked to the Daily Echo.
Staff at the at the giant plant, pictured above, say they are concerned about the lack of maintenance and ageing infrastructure at the site on Southampton Water.
The Health and Safety Executive report also reveals staff claim that minor incidents and accidents are not reported because they might lose out on bonuses.
The plant operated by Esso and its parent company ExxonMobil has a workforce of 1,300 employees and 2,000 contractors.
The company strongly denied claims Fawley was not safe.
In a statement it added: "We take the safety of our people and of the local community extremely seriously."
