A SOUTHAMPTON author has topped an Amazon best sellers list with her first-ever book.
Katherine Ann Byam released her first book, Do what matters; the purpose-driven career transition guide, in July, and it has topped Amazon’s best-seller list for career guides this month.
The book deals with navigating your job and workplace with a sustainability and change advocacy lens to help secure our shared future.
Katherine, a consultant who supports sustainable development for Small to Medium Enterprises decided to write the book following her international travels to Uzbekistan, Uganda, Cambodia and Latin America where she noticed the imbalance in economics and in happiness.
She said: "What became abundantly clear to me from my travels and having worked with more than 150 different ethnicities was that money doesn’t equal happiness and money is also pretty unfulfilling to many as a goal in itself.
"And when writing my book, I was clear on my intention – it had to be an accessible guide to all – to help anyone to make the changes they want with where and how they want to work.
“I am so pleased my book has reached number one and even more so that the reviews show readers really are using it to make the difference they want to in their lives, not just their careers.
"It was so important to me that this book isn’t just a good read but a tool that anyone uses to make an impact and achieve the goals they once thought were impossible.”
In 17 chapters, Katherine takes readers on a journey of the global sustainability challenges while appealing to us to generate a sense of shared purpose before any action is taken, from the way we work, how we live our lives and how everything can be improved from right where we are, right now.
Katherine’s book neatly wraps up many ideas that will help anyone in search of leading a more meaningful career through embracing intention and choice with the help of a nine-step process.
Do what matters; the purpose-driven career transition guide is now available from Amazon books online and is the first book of a four-part book series.
