HE has been supporting some of the biggest names in music and now Andrew Cushin has an intimate date in Southampton coming up.

The hotly-tipped Newcastle singer-songwriter has played alongside Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller and The Libertines.

When he plays his first headline gig in Southampton at The Joiners on October 9, he will play killer songs with a full band to a sold-out crowd.

He has been working on a new single with Manic Street Preachers producer Dave Eringa, who this year has already had top ten hits with The Sherlocks and Jamie Webster.

No stranger to Southampton, Andrew was last here supporting The Sherlocks at The Engine Rooms in May, but he says it was an eventful journey to the city.

"I had played The Great Escape festival in Brighton the day before and was a little worse for wear. I don’t know how I made it. A young lassie from Southampton sat beside me on the train, and she virtually held my hand at every stop. I need to find her one day to thank her."
