A TEAM of leading clinicians swapped out their white coats and stethoscopes for high-vis and hardhats as part of a new development.
The team of medics broke ground at the site of Southampton’s new state-of-the-art neurological rehabilitation centre.
The Inspire Neurocare centre, in Nursling, will aim to support the nearby University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust and the University of Southampton.
Once completed, it is hoped it will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation services in the South of England.

The centre is being built by healthcare developer Hamberley Development.
Michelle Kudhail, director of specialist services for Inspire Neurocare, said that the Inspire Neurocare centre would set a new standard for neurological rehabilitation services in the region.
She said: "We are delighted to finally break ground on what will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation services in the South of England.
"This project has been a long-time in the making and so it’s wonderful to see all of our local partners here today for this important milestone.
"We very much look forward to working with University Hospital Southampton, the University of Winchester and the University of Southampton research and education teams.
"Complex care services are becoming more and more advanced and so it is vital that the best environment exists to deliver these life-enhancing services – Inspire Neurocare Southampton will do just that."
Inspire Neurocare Southampton will provide rehabilitation, long-term, respite and palliative care for people with brain and spinal injuries as well as neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
The new centre will feature therapy and medical consulting rooms together with a therapy gym fitted with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment including robotics and other technology assisted equipment.
It will also have lounges, dining rooms, cinema, a café bar and a self-contained step-down apartment.
