A WOMAN in her 20s has been rescued following an incident on the Itchen Bridge.
Emergency services responded to concerns for the welfare of a woman on Friday.
Officers rushed to the scene at 4.24pm and could be seen on the bridge close to its junction with Central Bridge.
Police have today confirmed that the woman was later taken to safety.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "We were called at 4.24pm yesterday to Itchen Bridge due to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman in her 20s.
"Officers engaged with the woman and she was taken to safety."
