A SOUTHAMPTON university's students' union has told its students to bin or "read the instructions" after giving out a product for weight loss.
The Students' Union at the University of Southampton issued Slim Noodles meal kits at their freshers fair on Friday.
The packets say the kits are "effective" and "scientifically proven" for weight loss.
The students' union advised that students should either bin the noodles or "read the ingredients list very carefully" before eating.
The reason for the recall is that the kits contain glucomannan.

The ingredient is used in weight loss supplements as an appetite suppressant and has been involved in an Instagram row.
Posts from Love Island star Georgia Harrison were banned in 2019 for promoting weight loss sweets containing glucomannan.
Slim Noodles are "widely available and safe to consume", the union said, but members wanted to make sure students were aware and checked the small print.
A spokesperson for Southampton University Students' Union said: "We weren't made aware of this when we were offered the product to give away to students at Freshers Fair, and as soon as we became aware we stopped distributing them and issued the recall notice.
"We will no longer be working with the company who provided these products to us."
⚠️Recall Notice: If you received any of the Slim Noodles from Freshers Fair today please dispose of them or read the ingredients list very carefully before consuming. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. pic.twitter.com/VxAju3d8CF
