FOOD, drinks, cupcakes and glitter filled Eastleigh's park for the town's annual Pride.

The event on Leigh Road recreation ground was held in celebration of the town's LGBTQ+ community.

Saturday's celebration, which had been postponed following the Queen's death, was the fourth year of the town's Pride event.

There was all-day entertainment from Steindotters, Diana D, Jack of Hearts, Solent Gay Mens Choir, Maddox Jones, Ashley Paul, and Miss Lucy Luscious Lips, among others.

Founder of Eastleigh Pride, Dannon Robinson, said: "It's been fantastic. We are really grateful. The event wouldn't happen without the people coming.

"I also want to say a big thanks to all the people who have supported and sponsored us."

For the first time, the event held a parade through the streets of Eastleigh in the morning, up Wells Place and High Street.

Dannon said there were more than 100 people in the parade, which did two laps, and was "well received" by the community.

Eastleigh's MP and the mayor of Eastleigh were also at the event.

MP Paul Holmes said it was a "great event" and congratulated the organisers.

Eastleigh mayor and councillor Adam Manning said that the parade was "great fun".

Hampshire Constabulary had a stand at the event to support the LGBTQ+ community.

Eastleigh police officers were there to meet their link officers and to discuss issues with the public as the local neighbourhood team.

There were also firefighters from Hampshire and IOW Fire and Rescue, who said they were there to celebrate an event that promotes an "inclusive and diverse society".

Organised by Eastleigh Pride CIC, the event was sponsored by many groups including Blake Entertainment, Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council.

Eastleigh Pride CIC has also partnered with The Point theatre and gallery for A Gay Ol' Time, an exhibition curated by artist Amber Weyman of stories from the community in the last 70 years.
