THEY are the hotly tipped local band who have been taking their music around the country and return to Southampton for a headline gig this weekend.

Hampshire five-piece Crystal Tides sold out The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea in July, shifting more tickets than anyone else for a gig there since March 2020.

Now the group are to play The Joiners on Friday with Manchester’s The Covasettes and Ringwood’s Ear Candy.

Frontman Billy Gregory, guitarists Harry Knowles and Neil Cripps, bassist George Reagan and drummer Joe Knight's most recent Southampton gig was supporting The Sherlocks at The Engine Rooms in May.

Daily Echo:

Billy says the Yorkshire four-piece are an inspiration to new bands in the music industry. “They sell lots of tickets, which is exactly where we want to be, so it was great to play with them and see what we can learn,” he said.

Crystal Tides have built a formidable set list of indie-rock tunes, including Radio One-played single Sorry from their latest EP Side Effect.

The band recently grew into a five-piece after Neil permanently joined the band.
