A BUILDERS' merchant in Southampton is handing workers extra cash in the cost of living crisis.
Selco Builders Warehouse, which has 73 branches across the UK including one in Southampton, will give the majority of its employees a payment of £750 spread over five months.
The scheme will run from November until March and will offer £150 a month in order to support employees through rising energy bills and general inflation.
Howard Luft, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “We are living through an unprecedented cost of living crisis and it’s placing pressure on household budgets, from energy to food and fuel to mortgages, up and down the country.
“We wanted to do what we could to provide additional support to colleagues who, day-in and day-out, give outstanding commitment, dedication and service to the ongoing growth and success of Selco.
On top of this, free breakfasts made from locally-sourced products will also be available for staff every day.
The support package is set to cost the company £2.8 million.
Selco also offers various career development opportunities to its staff with many benefitting from apprenticeship programmes.
