A SOUTHAMPTON mum is calling for action after her daughter was "nearly hit" by vehicles going the wrong way down a one-way road.
Redbridge resident Nikki Boyle says Second Avenue has become a "death trap" due to vehicles speeding in the wrong direction.
The mum-of-one says that because the entrance to Second Avenue is closer to Redbridge Road, motorists drive the wrong way for quicker access to the main road.
Nikki's daughter Hannah, 12, was left in a state of shock after narrowly avoiding cars, vans, and lorries when riding her bicycle.
The 42-year-old said: "My daughter Hannah was really shaken up the last time it happened.
"She was with my husband and he told her the road was clear so she started going across the road and didn't see the car suddenly pull out.
"I'm worried about all the kids in the area we have to use that road. If we had cameras or one-way speed plates it would stop these people.
"I worry that it will take someone getting in an accident before anything is done."

Southampton City Council says it is monitoring the area and that police should be contacted if a driver attempts to go the wrong way.
Redbridge councillors, Catherine McEwing and Sally Goodfellow, say they have attempted to tackle the issue for some time.
Cllr Goodfellow said: "The council says it is a police matter because it is in breach of traffic regulation orders.
"The police have replied to say that they don't have the numbers to just sit there in hopes a car goes up the one way the wrong way but it will be on their radar.
"The only thing that I can now think of is that we could flag this area up to our highways team and ask if this spot could be considered for the new camera enforcement powers that local authorities are due to have but this will not happen any time soon and would have to go through a consultation period.
"Obviously, we condone dangerous driving and we will continue to find a solution at this dangerous location."
