A BUS service has welcomed two new high-spec vehicles into its fleet.

The new Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s were recently delivered to Eastleigh-based Xelabus.

The 11.5m vehicles boast high-capacity seating and are said to offer "versatility" to the family-owned business which operates school routes, council contracts and rail replacement services.

They have been provided as part of a rental package by Mistral Group, becoming the 15th and 16th vehicles provided by the company to Xelabus.

Freddie Fuller, Mistral National Retail Sales Manager, said: "I’m delighted to handover these buses to a valued customer of ours and further strengthen our relationship with Xelabus.

"These top-specification, high-capacity vehicles will help to improve their double-deck fleet age profile and certainly provide quality and comfort to their passengers."

Xelabus operates services in Southampton and Eastleigh but recently announced it would be making cuts due to rising costs.

Cuts to its X6, X7, X8, X15 and X17 services in September were also said to be down to a declining number of passengers since the pandemic.
