A MAN has been convicted after a teenage girl was raped and threatened in an alleyway.
Martin Butler attacked his 16-year-old victim in an alleyway off Gosport High Street.
The court heard how the 43-year-old made threats that he would return and find the girl again if she told anyone what happened.
The rape happened in November last year, however, fearing for her safety, the girl did not report it until March this year.
An investigation was launched including public appeals with an E-fit, and Butler was identified as the perpetrator.
He was arrested and charged with rape and assault by penetration.
Following his trial, which began on October 3 at Portsmouth Crown Court, the jury found him guilty today on both counts.
Butler, of Harbour Road in Gosport, was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on November 18 for sentencing.
Anyone affected by sexual abuse can report this to police in confidence by calling 101.
