MEMBERS of a city Conservative club have criticised Liz Truss as she marks her first month as Prime Minister.
Pensioners at Shirley and Millbrook Conservative Club have slammed the new PM saying she hasn’t been a consistent leader.
They have accused her of being the “Poundland Margaret Thatcher”.
David Kelly, 60, a club member for twenty years, labelled Truss as inconsistent after the Government’s decision to scrap the 45p rate of tax.
The Government first announced the abolition of the 45p rate of tax in its mini-budget on September 23.
However, this was scrapped after several MPs criticised the plans.
David said: “She’s very inconsistent, she was a Liberal Democrat and now she’s a Conservative, she was a remainer now she likes Brexit and now she went back on her word on the budget and threw [the Chancellor] under the bus saying that it was his idea. She’s not consistent at all.
“She’s always tried to mimic Thatcher when she dressed up in a fury coat in a tank but then she’s not actually helping the people of this country. She’s the Poundland of Margaret Thatcher.”

Meanwhile, Patrick Celeary, 67, said he fears the Government has lost ground to the Labour party with the latest u-turn.
He said: “Keir Starmer doesn’t even have to criticise her at Prime Minister’s Questions, all he needs to do is sit there and she will just dig her own hole.
"He must be so happy with what’s going on”.
Patrick, also a member at the club for over 20 years, said he is worried that benefits won’t rise with inflation after the rise in bills across the board
He said: “She wouldn’t commit to keeping the benefits in line with inflation. When she was asked if there was going to be benefit cuts she said she didn't want to talk about it, well how is that supposed to help me?
“I pay a lot more whenever I go shopping than before.
“I could buy a tub of butter around £2.30 last year but now I can’t buy for less than £4 today.”
Last month Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng announced a number of measures including the scrapping of the 45p rate of tax, which he scrapped after Liz Truss said it was his idea in the first place.
