A YOUNG girl with hair like Rapunzel is preparing to chop it all off for a good cause.

Brooke Brownlow from Eastleigh has spent the past three years growing her hair to an impressive 13 inches.

The six-year-old will donate her long locks to the Little Princess Trust and hopes to raise enough money for them to make two wigs.

Brooke has never had her hair cut before but is feeling excited for the big day on October 15.

'So proud'

Mum Ashleigh Brownlow said: “Brooke is super excited and can’t wait to get it cut off.

“She can’t believe how many people have supported her and donated to the Little Princess Trust, it’s really amazing.

“I am so proud of her and her dedication. Brooke really wants to do this.”

The idea of the fundraiser was planted in Brooke’s head after watching an advert for her chosen charity.

She said they spoke about it as a family and “didn’t leave any facts from her.”

Ashleigh said: “From then, Brooke said she wanted to grow her hair really long to chop it off to give to somebody to make them happy.”

Chopped for a good cause

It costs on average £550 to make, fit and style each wig for the charity.

Brooke hopes to raise £1,100 and is over halfway there, with £835 raised already.

Daily Echo:

Ashleigh said: “I didn’t expect it as I thought £1,100 was a lot of money. But the fact we have got as high as we have with the amount is amazing.

“Brooke is so excited to get her hair cut.

“It’s starting to be a challenge, especially when it comes to brushing her hair, so I think it’s the right time to have it chopped off for a good cause.”

Brooke will have her hair cut at JC Hair Nail and Beauty in Bishopstoke at 2pm on October 15.
