Serving fresh doughnuts and locally roasted coffee, The Nest has opened a new branch in Southampton

Taking over what was formerly the Card Factory, the independent coffee shop opened its doors today at 219 Portswood Road.

As well as an autumn special, pumpkin spiced chai buns, the shop offers a wide range of hot and cold drinks.

With more space and outdoor seating, the new site has created eight jobs.

The Nest's other branch can be found on London Road near the city centre.

Speaking to the Daily Echo about their opening, general manager, Emily Georgieva, said: "We are very excited to open our new shop in Portswood.

"We know this area is student-based, so we are looking forward to welcoming them as well as our old and new customers.

"We have been planning to open this shop for a couple of months, so we are really happy to be here."

Emily added: "It's amazing to see our Nest family grow and expand. We are planning to open another shop in Winchester very soon, and I have my fingers crossed for that."

For its grand opening, the Portswood site is giving away free coffee for every doughnut purchased this week.

This plant-based cafe is also pet-friendly and serves puppuccino.

The coffee house's menu consists of sweet baked goods, and doughnuts which come in many flavours - lemon and poppyseed, sugar cinnamon, maple bacon, raspberry, and more.

Beverages include iced Americano, matcha latte, cloudy lemonade, Jamie Dodger milkshakes, watermelon iced teas, and others.

The shop has free wifi and gives 25p off to customers who bring their own cups.

The interior of the shop has been carefully designed with modern furniture and gives off a relaxing vibe.

Their branch on London Road has a food hygiene rating of five, and the owners hope they can achieve the same rating at their new cafe.
