A MANHUNT has been launched after a woman was sexually assaulted in Southampton. 

Police say a woman in her 20s was approached by a man near Primark and the shoe shop Size? on Above Bar Street on Sunday.

The man allegedly tried to kiss her before sexually assaulting her twice over her clothing and walking off. 

This is said to have happened between 2.40am and 2.55am, sparking a police investigation. 

Officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

A spokesperson said: "Do you recognise this man?

"We would like to speak to him in connection with a sexual assault in Southampton High Street on Sunday, 2 October between 2.40am and 2.55am.

"We believe the man in this image has important information which could assist our investigation so we urge him to contact us.

"If you know him, or saw what happened, please contact us on 101 or report online, quoting 44220400261."
