NO Christmas market? No problem.
There is plenty happening in the city to celebrate Christmas this year.
Although the annual German Christmas Market will not be returning to Above Bar Street, a range of events are on offer.
Plus, the council is considering new options in light of the market’s absence, including alternative activities and attractions that would “complement the existing Christmas programme in the city”.

Here’s what you can expect:
Visit Southampton events:
• Countdown to Christmas and lights switch-on– city centre – November 17, 5-7pm
• The Great Elf Investigation – Free family walking trail, November 25 – January 3
If you fancy some culture at Christmas a number of performances with many discounted tickets are taking place.
Exciting performances:
• Down The Rabbit Hole – MAST Mayflower Studies – December 9-24
• Goldilocks and The Three Bears – Mayflower Theatre – December 10-31
• Alice: A Musical Adventure in Wonderland – MAST Mayflower Studios – December 17-31
• Snow White Adult Panto – The Stage Door – November 23 – December 23
• Merry F-ing Christmas – MAST Mayflower Studios – December 2
Festive fun in the city:
- Westquay will welcome back its popular ice rink for that really traditional Christmas feel.

- Explore the city at Christmas with Visit Southampton’s free family walking trail and take advantage of the offers and discounts available through the SO card, free for residents to use.
- The Countdown to Christmas event is set to take place on Thursday, November 17 from 5pm to 7pm with roaming street theatre and entertainment.
A free switch-on event of the Christmas lights will also take place on this day.

- Santa may not be flying above the city centre this year but he will make an appearance at Tudor House.
