A WOMEN'S football club has had its toilet block smashed up by vandals who broke into the grounds.
QK Southampton Ladies FC in Redbridge Lane was subject to the attack on October 8, leaving the club with no toilet facilities.
This is not the first time the club has been vandalised and club secretary of 23 years Don Campbell described it as “continuous”.
'Idiots cause mayhem'
The 73-year-old said: “We’re in an isolated area but people still abuse it. We have signs up asking people to respect the grounds.
“Our club was broken into and needlessly vandalised.
“People have broken in before, but this time they smashed it all up.
“And whoever did it came back and kicked all the fence down the next day, which I’m currently fixing.
“We don’t lose the will to live, but we get quite close sometimes. We don’t know if when we come up here if there’s going to be any damage.”

Don believes a group of people often seen in the area of the football grounds are the perpetrators.
He said: “I think kids go out roaming but there should be some sort of consequence for them.
“I was surprised and disappointed that someone found it necessary to smash up someone else’s property for enjoyment.
“They don’t think about who it’s going to affect and who is going to have to pay for it.
“We are working hard to make this into a really nice facility, but when we go forward we take a step back because of things like this.
“It’s not necessarily about the cost, but the anguish it causes. The odd idiots cause mayhem.”

Community steps in
Following this incident many members of the community have stepped forward to offer their help in repairing the toilet block.
Don described the outpouring of community support as “beautiful.”
He said: “City Plumbing responded to our Facebook post and bought us all the replacement parts.
“And it hopefully won’t cost us as the dad of one of our coaches is a plumber and he has offered to fix it.
“Hopefully the toilets will be up and running by the weekend.”
The incident was reported to the police and Hampshire Constabulary have been contacted for comment.
