An eight-year-old boy has been injured in a bus crash.

He was hit by a Bluestar bus on Waterloo Road earlier this afternoon.

A woman in her 40s was also injured.

Police were called out to the crash near the junction with Varna Road just before 4.20pm.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.18pm to Waterloo Road, Southampton, to a collision involving a bus and two pedestrians: an eight-year-old boy and a woman in her 40s. Both pedestrians sustained injuries.

“We remain at the scene.”

A part of the road was closed but has since reopened. 

No details of the injuries have been revealed.
