SEVEN dead kittens have been found dumped on the same street in a two-month period.

The RSPCA has launched an investigation into the incident on Longfield Avenue, Fareham.

The kittens were all different ages and breeds and were dumped at different times, according to the animal welfare charity.

Some of the cats appeared to be newborns and others were very young.

The RSPCA provided images of the kittens which were too distressing to publish.

The first kitten was found wrapped in kitchen roll on August 20 and appeared to be very skinny but when a passerby returned to collect the body and take them to the vets, the body had already gone.

The second kitten, a tabby, was found on September 9 and was also very skinny and wrapped in kitchen roll.

The third kitten was found on September 30 wrapped in newspaper.

This cat was a Siamese or Ragdoll type breed and was also taken to the vets.

Another was found on October 3 and tragically, the bodies of another two kittens were found on October 13 with one more discovered on Wednesday, October 19.

Each kitten looked like it had been thrown into a bush at the side of the road.

The RSPCA has been investigating since it was reported to the cruelty line at the end of September but no new information has yet come to light.

Animal rescue officer, Kelly-Ann Furse said: “This has been a distressing time for the member of the public who has repeatedly made these grim discoveries.

"It is very concerning that we now have seven dead kittens dumped in the exact same spot. We’re keen to find out why so many of them are dying and being dumped.

"If anyone has any information at all which might help our investigation, please call us, so that we can stop this from happening again.

“The number of kittens, as well as the breed of some of them, would suggest they could be coming from a breeder. It is unknown how the kittens died so we’re keen for answers.”

Anyone with information that could help the RSPCA investigation is urged to call 0300 123 8018.
