A BRITISH Airways worker made the life of an air hostess a 'living hell' by harassing her over several months, a court heard.

Shaun Radford bombarded his ex-partner with calls and messages after their relationship broke down

The 30-year-old left the woman, from Southampton, with more than 1,000 missed calls, followed her as she left work and even threatened to “ruin [her] life”.

Prosecution solicitor, Ryan Seneviratne told how the harassment started when the couple broke up in late 2020 with Radford accusing her of cheating.

On November 3, his victim told him not to contact her again.

But the next day, she received text messages from his “sister” saying he was in hospital trying to kill himself.

Over several months he texted and called her, her mother and sister in an attempt to get to her.

Southampton Magistrates' Court heard how the defendant went to her workplace and accused her of cheating.

He even followed her from the car park at Heathrow, where they worked together, and tweeted about her saying he would “ruin [her] life and that’s a promise”.

Radford is said to have damaged his victims’ car and let her tyres down.

Another time, she found someone had been trying to reset her passwords.

In a victim personal statement, the woman said she had only been with him for a year, but that he had a “huge impact on [her] in a number of ways”.

“I live in fear that he will turn up at my family home. I’m constantly looking over my shoulder.

“The whole experience has been a nightmare. Shaun will use any and all means to try and control me.

“It has been a living hell. I have had to change my mobile phone and I’m also changing my car.

“I think Shaun needs to be helped.”

She added that she never mistreated him or was disloyal and that leaving him had been the “best decision [she] had ever made”.

Radford, of Dye House Field, Kings Stanley, pleaded guilty to one charge of harassment and appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this week.

Mitigating, Steven Wedd said Radford is now far away from Southampton and his victim.

“Since being prosecuted there is no further contact between them. There will be none in future.

“He is devastated about what he did”.

He added that Radford is now full of sorrow and remorse and that he is someone who “gets in love very quickly and falls out of love very badly”.

Radford was jailed for 22 weeks, suspended for 24 months.

He was ordered to pay costs of £310 plus a victim surcharge of £128.
