THESE are the criminals who have been sentenced in and around Southampton in October.

Dangerous driving, high-speed police chases and sexual assaults are just some of the offences that have come through the city's courts.

Here is a round-up of some of the cases heard in October:

George Gibbs

Southampton man George Gibbs was jailed for sexually assaulting two girls under the age of 13.

The 55-year-old was reported to the police on September 27, 2020, following the incidents which took place after July 2018.

Gibbs, of Harefield Road, was jailed for 10 years and three months.

James Ashman

Forty-two-year-old James Ashman downloaded more than 18,000 indecent images of children during lockdown.

Ashman admitted downloading the images telling police "I did download some dodgy [stuff] during lockdown".

He pleading guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children.

Ashman, of Howard Road, Southampton, was handed a three-year community order and ordered to do 15 rehabilitation activity days.

He must complete 200 hours of unpaid work and is now subject to a five-year sexual prevention order.

Waldyn Camilo

Waldyn Camilo urinated in a police van and kissed a female officer's hand after being arrested at West Quay Road.

The 22-year-old became "difficult, abusive and violent" after police arrived, the court heard.

Camilo, of St Helen's Parade, Southsea, was handed a 12-month community order for the three assaults, plus an identical penalty for criminal damage, and was also told to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.

Oliver Shoesmith

Oliver Shoesmith was jailed after he was caught pleasuring himself in front of passengers and children on a station platform.

The 40-year-old helped a woman carry a pushchair up the station steps while he carried a bag across the front of his body, covering his groin area.

A member of staff spotted Shoesmith unzipping his trousers and pleasuring himself while the woman with the pushchair stood with her young child on the opposite platform.

Shoesmith, of High Street, Aldershot, was sentenced to two years in jail and handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Thomas Lycett and Jacob Reginald Titt

Thomas Lycett and Jacob Reginald Titt were using the roads “like a racetrack” before a crash that left a cyclist with a broken neck and a collapsed lung.

The 21 and 23-year-olds were driving at speeds of up to 100mph in a 40mph limit moments before.

Forty-five-year-old Thomas Watt was on a family bike ride with his wife and two daughters when he started to lead his family across Salisbury Road in Calmore.

Mr Watt had not even reached halfway across the road when Titt’s car “ploughed” into his bicycle.

The cyclist then flew into the air, landing 43-metres away from the scene of the crash.

Titt was jailed for 18 months and disqualified from driving for three years and nine months.

Lycett was jailed for 14 months and disqualified from driving for three years and seven months.

Oskars Bolsteins

Oskars Bolsteins tried to flee the country after leaving a ten-year-old girl lying injured in the road.

The 27-year-old was travelling at almost twice the 30mph speed limit when he ploughed into the girl, who was crossing Onslow Road in Southampton on August 1 this year.

The girl suffered a serious leg injury.

Bolsteins, of no fixed address, was jailed for nine months.

He was also banned from driving for two years. There were no separate penalties for the other offences.

Liam Kane

Liam Kane led police on a 25-mile chase tearing along roads at double the speed limit.

The 27-year-old drove at almost 100mph in a 60mph zone as well as going the wrong way around roundabouts.

Police believed the car he was driving had been involved in a burglary in Lymington.

He was jailed for eight months but suspended the sentence for two years.

He must also carry out 280 hours of unpaid work, pay £535 in costs and complete 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

Kane was disqualified from driving for 15 months.

Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor slammed a car into his girlfriend and an innocent bystander at a petrol station.

The 32-year-old had been arguing with his partner at the Texaco petrol station on Southampton Road, Eastleigh moments before the incident.

After a row, he left his girlfriend at the petrol station, but when an innocent bystander went to check on her, Taylor turned his vehicle around, and drove straight towards them both.

Taylor was later arrested. Police found a knife and nunchucks in his boot.

Taylor has 32 previous convictions for 35 offences with a “good proportion” of those involving violence.

He was jailed for three years and nine months.

Warren Bone

Warren Bone tried to avoid being sentenced after downloading thousands of indecent images of children.

Police found more than 9,000 images after seizing devices belonging to the 53-year-old.

A total of 1,898 of these were judged to be category A images - the most serious kind.

A total of 1,953 images were considered to be category B and 5,586 category C.

Judge Shepherd jailed Bone for three years and seven months.

Owen Watson

Owen Watson was rammed by police while doing twice the speed limit on a motorbike. 

The 23-year-old led officers on a high-speed chase down a road busy with other drivers and pedestrians. 

He was riding a black Honda 125cc moped with fraudulent plates on The Avenue with a pillion passenger. 

Officers made tactical contact and rammed the biker off the road. 

Watson, of Taranto Road, Southampton, received a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

He was also fined £400 and asked to pay £85 in costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

He was also banned from driving for three months.

Navroz Sarkari

Navroz Sarkari "inflicted misery" on Southampton residents by invading their homes.

Cash, designer clothes, and jewellery were just some of the items the 52-year-old stole when he raided homes across the city.

Police used DNA left at one of the scenes to track him down.

Sarkari, of Lyon Street, Southampton was jailed for four and a half years.

Dean Cartwright, Jamie Cartwright, and Alfie Cartwright

Dean Cartwright, Jamie Cartwright, and Alfie Cartwright were shot at during a night out, sparking a brawl involving a machete and a harpoon.

The 19-year-old, 38-year-old, and 19-year-old were near the bingo hall on Shirley Road when the altercation started.

Jamie and one other family member were struck with a pellet from an air rifle, before the group stormed the flats where the shot had come from.

Christopher Helder fired the weapon, before making his way downstairs armed with a machete and a harpoon-like device.

Helder was arrested at his flat with weapons including a machete, two air rifles and the harpoon-like device being seized by police.

He has since died before being able to face justice for the incident, the court heard.

Jamie and Dean pleaded guilty to affray with Cartwright pleading guilty to a public order offence.
