A ROAD is to remain closed for the rest of the day after a woman was hit by bricks falling from a lorry.
The A35 Southampton Road through Lyndhurst is closed after the 23-year-old was seriously injured.
Police were called to the scene following reports that pallets of bricks on a lorry became dislodged and struck a pedestrian.
The road has been closed since around 1.30pm today.

A mound of what looks like paving slabs is covering the pavement outside the Lyndhurst Park Hotel, nearly directly opposite Lyndhurst Fire Station and an extensive police cordon is in place.
The woman has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
The road is closed in both directions and is set to remain closed for the rest of the day.
Access to Ashurst via Lyndhurst is affected.
Due to a road traffic incident Lyndhurst High Street in the New Forest is closed and will remain so for the rest of the day into the evening. Avoid if possible.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Ashurst are able to turn left onto the B3056, heading in the direction of Beaulieu.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "The circumstances reported to police are that pallets of bricks have become dislodged from a lorry and struck a pedestrian, who has suffered serious injuries.
"She has been taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries into the exact circumstances remain ongoing.
"Road closures are currently in place at this time."
