IT HAS been serving fabulous food for more than 30 years and has earned a special plaice in the hearts of its customers.
Now the family-run J-Henry's Fish and Chips in Upper Northam Road, Hedge End, has won one of the prestigious 2023 Good Food Awards.
The shop is run by its founder, Shane Lee, who started the shop back in 1988, and his son, Sonny Lee.
Other family members also play their part, including three of Shane’s grandchildren.
J-Henry's has won various awards over years, including regional runner-up in the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year competition.

"We achieve this by paying special attention to every fine detail in our menu and only using the very finest and freshest ingredients."
J-Henry's, named after Shane's first-born son, is one of the best chippies in the Southampton area, according to Tripadvisor.
One customer said their haddock looked and tasted delicious.
They added: "It was the first time I have visited J Henry and that was because of the past awards and great reviews. This is the place to visit for fish and chips."
Sonny said J-Henry's was the only chippy in the Southampton area to win one of the 2023 Good Food Awards.

They have been honouring eateries across the country since they were launched in 2002.
A Good Foods Awards spokesperson said: "Our unique awards, recognise those who strive for culinary excellence within their field. They are free to enter and entirely based on merit.
"With some 599,370 eating establishments¹ within the UK, competition for our Good Food Awards was unsurprisingly tough.
"We were taken aback by the record number of entrants and votes cast for the finalists by readers, customers and fans alike.
"It was heart-warming to see the support our winners received.
"Chosen for their food quality, service and value, our Good Food Awards are bestowed upon those with high customer ratings/votes and are known as the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes.
"Some premises appear in our awards regularly. They must earn their place by maintaining the same high standards¹ that gained them initial entry.
"We are delighted to confirm that J-Henry’s Fish and Chips have made it into our annual Good Food Awards."
