BEER LOVERS can enjoy the delights of a new bottle shop opened by an independent city brewery.
Unity Brewing has thrown open the doors of its new store in Bedford Place.
With an existing brewery on Princes Street in Northam, it has taken over the site from the closed wine merchant Cloud Wine.
Unity’s owner, Jimmy Hatherley, is now hoping to expand its horizons from beer to selling other drinks like wine and cider.
Speaking to the Echo, Mr Hatherley, 39 said: “Where we are in Northam is a little bit out of the way, and there’s not a lot there.
"And we needed a central location so that people could come and understand more about the brand.
“At the bottleshop here our main focus is beer but we’re going to be selling lots of other really interesting drinks, and we love fermented beverages, anything that’s fermented is a joy for us.”

Mr Hatherley hopes that this new store will fill the gap in the market of bottleshops in Southampton.
He said: “We’re going to be doing wine, beer and cider tastings with the producers as well so we’re going to be doing a lot of the things that we think are filling the gap a lot of people talk about, and that’s one of the reasons why I started the brewery.
“It’s also about giving the opportunity to those producers who are making the least amount of impact on the environment as well."
He added: “We’re confident that demand for our product line up, and intimate tasting room experience will provide an appealing and exciting new place to buy interesting drinks for the people of Southampton, alongside our popular brewery taproom in Northam”
The store opens on Wednesday, November 9 and customers will be eligible for a 15 per cent discount on all purchases until Sunday, November 13.
