Hampshire plumber sheds six stone and becomes a personal trainer

And Wayne Gentry enjoyed the workouts in his new fitness regime so much, he has qualified as a personal trainer. 

The 43-year-old bathroom fitter, plumber and tiler weighed 123kg - around 19 and a half stone - when he signed up at this local gym, Studio Twenty 3, last summer.

With the advice and support of the personal training team and by following a calorie-controlled diet, he lost the weight in just six months and has maintained his lower weight for year since then.

Wayne also dramatically changed his body shape and confidence.

His whole outlook towards exercise changed and Wayne signed up for Studio Twenty 3's Level 3 Personal Training qualification.

He is now qualified and has taken on a few of his own 1-2-1 clients alongside his plumbing business.

Wayne said: "I signed up in June 2021 as I was very unhealthy, overweight and I had difficulty just moving. 

"I thought it was going to be so hard but, after the first month and with the first stone gone, it made me want to do more.

"I was doing four workouts a week and getting healthier, stronger and fitter. The PT course has also helped me improve myself.

"I was completely unmotivated to start with and I think what put me off was that I thought it would be a really long journey, but after a couple of months I was really seeing results. You've got to be determined, but go for it!"

Gareth Allen, Owner of Studio Twenty 3 and Studio Twenty 3 - Academy added: "I've seen transformations before, 5kg, 10kg, 20kg but nothing like this.

"The way Wayne set about this health and fitness challenge has been nothing but outstanding. His work ethic and discipline have yielded results even I didn't expect to see.

"To take that new passion for health and fitness to a whole new level through our training academy is utterly awesome. Well done to the team for guiding Wayne through this journey."
