This is the moment Southampton fell silent to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Residents, civic leaders, veterans and Army personnel observed a two-minute silence at 11 o'clock to mark Armistice Day.

They gathered at the Cenotaph in Watts Park to lay wreaths and pay tribute to those who lost their lives to fight for our freedom.

November 11 marks the end of the First World War in 1918.

A bigger service, including a parade through the city centre, will be held on Sunday.

Road closures will be in place.
