TOGETHER we will beat cancer. It is the motto of Cancer Research UK and it was the spirit embodied by Race for Life winners Emily Tate and Miranda Adcock.
The ladies chose not to beat one another across the finish line but joined forces at the last moment to finish the race together.
Accountant and keen runner Emily, 33, took part in the event with a group of ladies from Twyford School.
"We've raised more than £500," she said. "It was so inspiring today seeing the messages on everyone's backs."
The winning ladies were closely followed by Miranda's 11-year-old daughter Alice. Social worker Miranda, 42, is pooling her Race for Life sponsorship money with the funds she raised in this year's London Marathon and hopes it will total more than £500.
