A SOUTHAMPTON school has received an ‘outstanding’ rating again following a recent re-inspection.
St Anne’s Catholic School in Carlton Road was inspected by Ofsted on September 21 and 22, six years after its previous inspection.
Inspectors found pupils “achieve exceptionally well” and the school is “lively, diverse, and inclusive.”
Staff described to inspectors how they felt “valued” and “love working” at the school.
Speaking on the findings, headteacher James Rouse said: “We are delighted that St Anne’s has been found to be ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted yet again.
“We are really pleased that inspectors found compelling evidence that our disadvantaged pupils, those who speak English as an additional language, and pupils with SEND, achieve just as well as others.
“Ever since our last inspection, we have refused to rely on past glory but continued to strive to be the best that we can be every day for the sake of our current and future pupils.”

The impressive outcome of the inspection comes at a time when hundreds of schools in England have been downgraded after being re-inspected for the first time in several years.
The watchdog said it inspected more than 500 schools in the last academic year that were previously exempt from regular inspection, having been rated outstanding.
Just 17 per cent of the 370 schools which had a graded inspection retained their outstanding grade when they were re-inspected in the 2021-22 academic year, Ofsted said.
St Anne’s Catholic School is the only school in the city that has been recently re-inspected by the watchdog.
