A MAN who swung an axe at his victim and wielded a wheel clamp as a weapon has appeared in court.
Robert Kendrick assaulted a man in Romsey on August 27.
The 61-year-old was found to be in the possession of an axe and a wheel clamp.
The court heard how Kendrick swung the axe at his victim during the incident.
At Southampton Magistrates' Court, he admitted two charges of common assault and two charges of possessing an offensive weapon.
Kendrick, of Malmesbury Road, Romsey, was jailed for eight months suspended for 18 months.
He was banned from entering Malmesbury Road and Dutton Road, in Romsey, for three months.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154 and court costs of £85.
