BLUESTAR has confirmed it will not increase fares after taking over City Red routes.
The bus operator will step in to cover all areas currently served by its competitor from February.
The news was a relief for passengers relying on City Red services but it also sparked fears Bluestar could put its prices up.
First Bus, which owns City Red, announced yesterday that it will cut all services in Southampton due to rising costs and low passenger numbers.

A spokesperson from Bluestar said the company has "no plans" to alter fares.
They added that the company only found out about City Red's decision yesterday.
In October Bluestar increased its prices due to the rising costs of running its services.
Fares increased by approximately 10p, 20p, and 30p, while some return fares increased by between 20p and 60p.
