A POPULAR pub in Southampton is up for sale – and this is your chance to become a landlord.

Located on Priory Road, the Junction Inn is listed on Rightmove for an undisclosed price.

The watering hole opened for business last September after it was closed for a period of time, but the decision has now been made to sell.

Greene King, who own the pub, said it was a “difficult decision.”

A spokesperson said: “We have made the difficult decision to sell The Junction Inn in Southampton.

“We’re working with Savills and hope to come to an agreed sale very soon. We would like to thank the community for their support for the pub over the years.”

The listing on Rightmove states it’s “price on application” and offers are invited for the freehold interest.

The pub has been described as a “substantial” freehold public house that benefits from a large beer garden.

The Grade II listed property also boasts three-bedroom accommodation.

However, many Southampton residents are sad to see the pub for sale.

Eleanor van der Hoest said: “{It’s a] pity, the latest managers were so keen to make it work.

“So many changes of management lately. Sad yet another local pub closure, especially one that was so renowned, people used to come from miles around to drink and socialise there.

“Hope it can be used for something beneficial to the neighbourhood.

Fellow resident Mike Watch predicts it will be bought by developers who later “offer to build 65 flats on the site.”

He added: “Getting rid of the Greene King hold on the place would be the correct way forward and getting a great selection of proper craft beers in would be a great start.”

The building itself is believed to have been built in the 1860s and was originally called the Wareham Inn.

It reportedly become the Junction Inn by 1878, and despite a fire at the pub in February 2012, many of the internal Victorian features survived.
