A MAN in his 70s was seriously injured after a collision involving a horse and cart in New Milton.
The man was taken to hospital following the incident in Brockenhurst Road shortly after 1pm on Saturday, December 3.
A horse being ridden by the man who was in a cart become “unsettled” before the cart collided with a wooden post.
Police and the ambulance service attended the incident.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.08pm on Saturday, 3 December to a report of a collision on Brockenhurst Road, New Milton.
“It was reported that a horse being ridden by a man in a cart became unsettled and the cart collided with a wooden post.
“Paramedics attended.
“The rider, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital.
The spokesperson added: "His injuries were reported as serious but not life threatening or life changing."
