BUSINESS is booming for some in Hampshire despite tricky times economically.

While some in the hospitality sector are struggling, many new restaurants have opened up across the county.

Here's five of the more quirky new offerings if you're looking for somewhere to try as 2022 draws to a close.

Jurassic Grill, Whiteley

A dinosaur-themed restaurant opened its doors in a Hampshire shopping village in May.

Jurassic Grill is doing a roaring trade in Whiteley.

Customers can try a selection of ‘Prehistoric Pizzas’ and the new ‘Palaeontologist Pancakes’ menu, featuring Cadbury Caramel Egg pancakes as well as classic choices such as maple syrup and bacon and banana and Biscoff.

Visitors are treated to a range of dishes including the towering ‘Titanosaurus’ triple cheeseburger, ‘Bone Yard’ BBQ ribs and ‘Volcano Wings’.

Bangerz 'n' Burgerz, Southampton

A new restaurant featuring vibrant artwork and graffiti created by street artists from across the UK opened in Southampton in June. 

Located in Above Bar Street, Bangerz 'n' Burgerz hopes to share its passion for food, beer, cocktails, and street art.

The restaurant in Southampton is the seventh Bangerz 'n' Burgerz restaurant in the UK, with existing premises in Chichester, Havant and Rustington.

Bangerz 'n' Burgerz took over the premises formerly occupied by Parkhouse Jewellers, one of the city's oldest businesses.

Funky Flamingo, Romsey

The upstairs of Indian restaurant Natraj in Romsey has been converted into the second branch of Funky Flamingo following the success of the garden-themed lounge bar in Bedford Place in Southampton.

The modern food and drink venue, popular for its Instagram opportunities, opened its doors in October with food and cocktails as well as its popular bottomless brunch. 

The Cedar Rooms at Royal Victoria Country Park

Pizza in the park you say?

Visitors to a popular Hampshire country park can now also enjoy pizzas thanks to the arrival of a new restaurant.

A historic space at Royal Victoria Country Park has been extensively refurbished into The Cedar Rooms restaurant.

The refurbishment of the space will see park-goers enjoy handmade pizzas on the former Netley Hospital site.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Cllr Rob Humby, opened the restaurant in July.

Giggling Squid, Winchester

A popular Thai restaurant chain opened its first Hampshire restaurant in November. 

Giggling Squid has welcomed its first diners to its spacious new two-floor restaurant, which overlooks Winchester Cathedral. 

The menu features curries, stir-fries, and Thai tapas. An extensive vegan menu is also available as well as a kids’ menu for the 'Squidlets'.

The restaurant enjoys a vibrant floral decor.
