A SOUTHAMPTON woman has been named one of the top female cyclists in the country.
Climate activist and keen cyclist Lyn Brayshaw is featured in Cycling UK’s 100 Women in Cycling 2022 sixth annual list.
The list champions those who encourage other women to get on their bikes and improve equality and diversity in cycling.
Lyn, 52, who does not own a car, said: “I don’t know how I was nominated.
“It’s nice to be acknowledged for all the time and effort I put into things.
“And it’s great to see so many other people doing voluntary work which all adds up to a better city, country, and planet.
“It does take a long time for change to happen, we are not starting with a blank canvas.”
Lyn is currently chair of Southampton Cycling Campaign and was heavily involved in the provision of safe cycle routes in the city.

However, according to Lyn, more work needs to be done.
She said: “Southampton is going to grow massively in the next few years.
“We need to make public travel easier and make it safer and easier for people to walk more.
“If we get people to cut down their journeys by car by one or two, it will benefit everybody.
“We need to make the city more accessible to people who cycle and use public transport.”
